A look at new California workplace laws

“The state this year passed about 18 laws that will affect employers and employees starting next year, according to an annual list put out by the California Chamber of Commerce.

That’s down slightly from about two dozen laws passed last year. “The focus this year was on the budget; (lawmakers) probably didn’t get to as many employment law issues” as they have in previous years, says Susan Kemp, the chamber’s senior employment law counsel.” (San Francisco Chronicle, November 1, 2012).
