The California Retailers Association said it was unworkable and would result in confusion, inaccurate pricing and increased costs. “The version that was up for a vote would have been harmful,” said Jennifer Barrera, a policy advocate with the California Chamber of Commerce. “It could have led to frivolous lawsuits over minor pricing differences that have nothing to do with gender.” (The Orange County Register, 06/29/16)
